Caitlin and Ben - Lake Champlain, Burlington, VT

Caitlin and Ben’s winter wedding in Burlington, Vermont, brought together a warm Catholic ceremony at the Catholic Center on UVM’s campus, elegant florals, and a reception at The Original Skiff that felt like a modern take on a restaurant from the Mad Men era.

The Catholic Center was especially meaningful to the family—it’s the church they’ve attended for years—and the ceremony had the warmth of a place that already held a history for the people gathered there. Thoughtfully coordinated by Katie Hopkins Events, the day then moved out into Burlington for portraits along the Lake Champlain waterfront. The sun came out at exactly the right moment, casting that particular kind of winter light over the lake, and somewhere along the way, Caitlin fell a little bit in love with a boat named the Miss Piggy.

By evening, everyone gathered at The Original Skiff, where the setting had the feeling of an old-school supper club reimagined for Burlington—beautiful, a little glamorous, and entirely at home in the city. Kingsley Florals carried that feeling through the reception with elegant, seasonal arrangements.

The whole day had an understated elegance to it, but it was the small, unexpected things that made it feel like theirs: a church filled with family history, perfect winter light, a favorite boat, beautiful flowers, and the people who filled the room around them.
